How to get around Barcelona
By Car: it is certainly more convenient to hire a car before reaching Barcelona.
You can hire cars directly online at very competitive rates at the address:
If the car is removed call the Dipòsit Municipal, tel. 93 428 45 95 to know where to fetch it from; in the urban areas the speed limit is 50 km/h, on the main roads it’s 100 Km/h, on state roads and motorways it is 120 Km/h.
The Buses, the underground and the suburban trams are integrated in a single tariff system managed by the Autoritat del Transport Metropolità (ATM); the ticket for each journey costs 1 Euro; the "targetes" are tickets for more trips (e.g. targeta T10 costs 5.60 Euro and is valid for 10 trips, targeta T-DIA costs 4.20 euro and allows an unlimited number of trips in 24 hours)..
Underground: this is the simplest and fastest way to get around the city; there are five lines, with different numbers and colours.
Times: From Monday to Thursday from 5 to 23.00.
on Fridays, Saturdays and on the even of festivities from 6 to 24.
On Sundays from 6 to 24.
Trains: FGC (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya): it is a suburban railway system with two lines which extend into the centre of Barcelona.
Times: from Sunday to Thursday from 5 to 23 or 23:30.
Fridays and Saturdays from 5 to 2.
Rodalies/Cercanìas: these trains lead to the outskirts of Barcelona and the inland towns.
Times: from 5 to 23:30, stopping at Sants, Placa de Catalunya, Passeig de Gràcia and another two stations.
Bus: the bus networks is rather extensive, even though night buses run along few routes.

Taxi: this means of transport is rather reasonable in cost, but fares are higher from 22 to 6 during weekends and holidays, or for large baggage.
